Treatment of Waste Water from Parboiled Rice Mill Unit by Coagulation/Flocculation

Abstract—Over 250 rice mills are available in the Gondia district in Maharashtra. Since the main crop of this area is paddy hence by milling of paddy and converted into rice, rice mills are required for the process. The area like Orissa and Chhattisgarh are very much attached with this area and the people are very much interested in boiled rice, the parboiling plants are also attached with these rice mills. Water is most important factor involved in the pre processing the rice and after boiling; the waste water is also produced of which the treatment is necessary. Shri Sai Baba Rice Mill, Kudwa, Gondia (M.S.) was selected for the wastewater analysis from parboiled rice mill unit by coagulation/flocculation. Wastewater was collected from two sampling points of the Rice Mill by grab samplings. The analysis work was done in Environmental Engineering Laboratory of M. Patel Institute of Engineering & Technology, Gondia as per the standard methods for examination of waste and wastewater (APHA 1999).
